Drywall is the usual in wall development for most homes and companies in the U.S. Its low value, huge availability and ease of installation makes it an inexpensive choice for both builders and residential house owners. Let it dry, then apply extra drywall compound, feathering the edges as you go. Like we did for the patches we discussed earlier, it’ll take several coats, in addition to a lightweight sanding, between each coat. The furring strip is used to attach the drywall patch in place.
Put on protecting clothes, work gloves, goggles and a dust mask when working with drywall. The again of a chair, a flying online game remote or an aggressive kid with a toy truck can tear the drywall paper face. Place a taping knife or skinny plywood behind the software to prevent further damage to the wall — be especially cautious not to lever towards unsupported drywall or the instrument will punch a gap that may require a more extensive repair.
Drywall tape can pull away from the wall, making a bubble along the surface of the wall (Picture 1). And if a small part of wall is badly stained or damaged, you’ll have to cut out the affected area and canopy the outlet with a drywall patch. For holes bigger than 6 inches, you may create a drywall patch with a special attachment methodology for the repair.
Tape will raise off the wall if there is not enough joint compound underneath to adhere it to the drywall. For a knock-down end – one the place a trowel presses joint compound right down to type a texture that is more mottled than a flat wall – calmly flatten the particles with a knife because the compound mixture begins to dry.
Don’t attempt to pull it off—you will tear the drywall face, making rips throughout the wall. FOR MEDIUM-dimension holes, peel off the backing sheet from the metal patch to expose the adhesive. Score the again of the drywall with a box cutter or knife about an inch from each side.
